Scottish Business Insider's Top500 is the most authoritative listing of the country's biggest and most successful companies. To qualify for a listing, each company must be headquartered in Scotland or be a substantial subsidiary of a foreign owned company with its financial results published separately and have a turnover of £20m+. The Top500 is read by a wide range of people from Chief Executives to Sales Directors.
This event provides business leaders with a unique insight into what they might expect to see happening to the Scottish, UK and Global economies during the year ahead. This year this was delivered by Keynote speaker Stephen Boyle, chief economist at The Royal Bank of Scotland Group who outlined what he believes are the three main risks to Scotland's economy:
- - the UK's eventual deal when it exits the EU,
- - the US President elect's early soundings in support of instilling barriers to trade,
- - and the risks ahead for the European member states in supporting their 2015 road map for the euro currency in the face of growing far-right support in some member countries.
The event also featured a panel discussion, from:
Keith Anderson - Chief Corporate Officer, Scottish Power
Sandy Kennedy - Chief Executive, Entrepreneurial Scotland
Alison McGregor - Chief Executive Officer, HSBC
